MIAMI, November 20, 2009 - Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership, will partner with the NFL and the Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade affiliate at Super Bowl XLIV for the 15th annual “Kickoff to Rebuild.” The project has been preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing Super Bowl cities for 15 years.
On February 4, 2010, more than 250 volunteers from the Miami community, local and national sponsors, as well as current and former NFL players, will donate time, money and materials for the Kickoff to Rebuild event, which includes a community clean-up work day and the revitalization of 5 homes in the Coconut Grove neighborhood. After the work day, volunteers and community members will enjoy a block-party style celebration for their hard work and dedication to rebuild.
NFL Hall of Famer and former Miami Dolphin player, Dwight Stephenson will serve as spokesperson for the 2010 Kickoff to Rebuild. Stephenson, CEO of D. Stephenson Construction, Inc., cofounded the Dwight Stephenson Foundation with his wife, Dinah Stephenson. Their mission is to leverage their sports and business connections to increase funding and awareness for charities that support children and families throughout South Florida.
A press conference is scheduled for December 3 in the Coconut Grove neighborhood to formally announce the 2010 Kickoff to Rebuild event. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Rebuilding Together is proud to team up with the NFL and to bring much needed repairs and aid to Miami community homeowners. These relationships allow Rebuilding Together to mobilize more volunteers and make a difference in Super Bowl communities.
