Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade and The Home Depot Foundation team up to Assist an OEF/OIF Army Veteran

For Immediate Release

January 24, 2014

MIAMI, January 24, 2014 ‐ Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade today announced a $24,000 grant from The Home Depot Foundation that enables Team Depot, the Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force, and Rebuilding Together Miami to make critical home repairs to a US Army veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The grant will be used towards preserving affordable housing in Miami-Dade and is specifically designated to revitalize the home of a 59-year old disabled United States Army veteran.

This veteran and her family have lived in their home for over 40 years, but have struggled with its maintenance due to health issues and financial burdens. The veteran, born and raised in Miami, has returned to help her family with the home.

The project includes: roof repair, installing new kitchen cabinets as well as new energy saving kitchen appliances, bathroom modifications, floor repair, exterior and interior painting and landscaping.

This project will conclude with an event day that will be held next Thursday, January 30th from 9AM to 3PM. The location of the event is: 22300 SW 112th Place Miami, FL 33170.

Both Rebuilding Together Miami and The Home Depot Foundation have initiatives to assist military veterans with capital improvements to provide a safe, dry and healthy house in which to live. Through this partnership in the last year, a dozen low-income veterans have been assisted with more than $160,000 of market value work donated to the community.

Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade continues to seek corporate sponsors, donations and volunteers for upcoming projects. If you are interested in participating, please contact Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade at (305) 665-1146 ext. 213 or www.rebuildingtogethermiami.org.
