MIAMI, October 28, 2014 ‐ Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade received a $20,000 grant from the Miami Dolphin Foundation and Bank of America to preserve affordable housing in Miami-Dade. Miami Dolphin volunteers and Bank of America volunteers will be working on the Miami Garden homes of Gary Brown, a 64 year old US Navy veteran and Verna Powell, 72 year old widow. Verna Powell raised two sons in her home of 44 years. She is in flooring, electrical and soffit repairs to allow her to continue to live safely in her home. Gary Brown served in Vietnam as an engineer aboard the USS Perry. He has multiple health problems and was the victim of a crime that left him blind in one eye. He is unable to keep up with the maintenance of his home and needs repairs for his leaking roof, his non-functioning kitchen, exterior doors and ADA modifications to his bathroom.

"Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade is excited to have the support of Bank of America and the Miami Dolphins to meet the organization's goals." said Donna Fales, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade.
