Local Veteran Gets Fresh Start From Home Depot
For Immediate Release
October 3, 2014
HOMESTEAD, Fla. Last week, Home Depot, in partnership with Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade, Inc., helped refurbish a home for a local veteran in Homestead.
Lilly Dempsey and her son Willie were living with her family in a home that was in disrepair.
"The whole ceiling was falling in," said Travis Renville, project manager for Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade, Inc. "They needed a lot of fixes."
In addition to a new ceiling, the whole house was painted, new appliances were installed, and the outside yard was given a fresh look thanks to some new pavers and freshly planted flowers and bushes.
On the inside, new tile floors were installed, and the bathrooms got a complete overhaul.
Thanks to the work of over 20 Team Depot volunteers, made up entirely of Home Depot associates, the Dempsey’s now live in a good-as-new home under a new roof as well.
