Wells Fargo Grant Announcement and Volunteer Day

On July 28th, 2023 Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade hosted a volunteer event with the Wells Fargo Foundation, where they announced a grant award of $1.4 million to Rebuilding Together National, to be disbursed to affiliates around the country. The homeowner, Ms. Nunez, is an Army Veteran living in her family home that burned down not too long ago. With help from the grant, Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade was able to renovate her bathroom using a contractor and provide beautiful landscaping with local and national Wells Fargo volunteers, using plants from a local nursery.

Tree Trimming/Thinning Project in West Coconut Grove

To kick off the year, we launched a pilot program in Village West Coconut Grove that allows homeowners to receive necessary tree trimming for a very low cost. We selected 25 properties, where a maximum of 3 trees were trimmed/thinned to remove low hanging branches that were threats to the home and powerlines. By partnering with a local arborist, this program was a huge success in preparing homes for hurricane season, and even allowing some homeowners to be re-instated for their homeowner's insurance policies!

National Rebuilding Day 2023

April 29th, 2023 was National Rebuilding Day. On this day, Rebuilding Together affiliates across the nation provided repairs to homes in need with volunteers. Our organization helped repair 6 homes and 1 community space with over 150 volunteers in West Coconut Grove all on the same day!

Floor and Decor Volunteer Day

During March of 2023, Floor and Decor employees volunteered to revitalize a Veterans home and care facility in Allapattah. At this event landscaping was done to beautify the courtyard that all the residents can use. Thanks to the grant, other repairs were completed by contractors, including ADA bathroom conversions and new locking mechanisms on all of the units.

Miami Open Volunteer Day

In March 2023, during the Miami Open Tournament, 4 professional international tennis players volunteered to paint a home in Miami Gardens, along with the Women's Tennis Association. A Veteran and his family live in the home, and they are so happy with how the painting came out.
